AlphV/Black Cat crime group extorting fintech Tipalti, threatening to leak client data
The cybercrime gang ALPHV/BlackCat claims to hold sensitive data stolen from the Israeli fintech Tipalti. Tipalti is a fintech company that specializes in automating and streamlining the accounts payable and financial operations processes for businesses.
Tipalti's services are integral to many businesses, streamlining financial operations for clients in nearly 200 countries, including prominent names like Amazon Twitch, GoDaddy, Roku, WordPress.com, and ZipRecruiter.
AlphV group alleges to have obtained a substantial cache of data, including private information of Tipalti's high-profile clients including Roblox and Twitch. The hackers claim they infiltrated Tipalti's systems on September 8th, 2023, and extracted over 265GB of critical business data, affecting the company, its employees, and clients.
ALPHV has threatened to disclose details about the hack strategically to affect the stock price of Roblox.
Tipalti has acknowledged being aware of the situation and is actively investigating. The company emphasizes its commitment to protecting client data and has not found any evidence of data loss or system breaches as of now. No other details are available, probably until ALPHV dumps the data package on their leak site.
