Google has released a security update for its web browser, Google Chrome 114, which addresses four vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities affect both the desktop and Android versions of Google Chrome, as well as third-party browsers that utilize the Chromium core.
The security update is already available, and most Chrome users will receive it automatically in the coming days and weeks. However, desktop users can expedite the installation process by manually checking for updates.
To protect users from potential attacks targeting the vulnerabilities, Google has provided specific versions for each platform:
- Google Chrome for Mac: 114.0.5735.198
- Google Chrome for Linux: 114.0.5735.198
- Google Chrome for Windows: 114.0.5735.198 or 114.0.5735.199
- Google Chrome for Android: 114.0.5735.196
Google has disclosed information about three out of the four security issues that were patched in this update. These issues, listed on the official Chrome Releases blog, have been rated as high severity, just below critical. They include a type confusion vulnerability in V8, a use-after-free vulnerability in Media, and another use-after-free vulnerability in Guest View.
So far there are no reports of exploiting these vulnerabilities in the wild.
