Google has rolled out a critical security update for Chrome, version 126, addressing multiple significant vulnerabilities, one critical and six high-severity issues:
- CVE-2024-6779 (CVSS score 9.6): Out-of-bounds memory access in V8.
- CVE-2024-6772 (CVSS score 8.8): Inappropriate implementation in V8.
- CVE-2024-6773 (CVSS score 8.8): Type confusion in V8.
- CVE-2024-6774 (CVSS score 8.8): Use-after-free in Screen Capture.
- CVE-2024-6775 (CVSS score 8.8): Use-after-free in Media Stream.
- CVE-2024-6776 (CVSS score 8.8): Use-after-free in Audio.
- CVE-2024-6777 (CVSS score 8.8): Use-after-free in Navigation.
This update is now available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, with version numbers 126.0.6478.182/183 for Windows and macOS and 126.0.6478.182 for Linux. The update will be distributed over the coming days and weeks.
Although there are no reports of these vulnerabilities being exploited in the wild, it is highly recommended that users update their browsers immediately to mitigate any potential risks.
