Google releases emergency security update for Chrome V8 Engine flaw

Google has released a second emergency security update for Chrome in less than a week, patching a vulnerability in Chrome's V8 JavaScript rendering engine, the core component responsible for executing JavaScript code on all Chromium-based browsers.

The flaw is tracked as CVE-2025-12036 (CVSS score not calculated, Google score High Severity), detected by Google's own AI-powered security research initiative, Big Sleep. No details about the flaw are disclosed. Google has restricted access to detailed bug information and technical specifics until the majority of users have applied the security patch.

Google has released the security update as version 141.0.7390.122/.123 for Windows and Mac, version 141.0.7390.122 for Linux, version 141.0.7390.122 for Android and 142.0.7444.46 for iOS. To manually check for and apply the update immediately, users should navigate to Chrome's settings menu and select "About Google Chrome," which will automatically initiate the update process.
