Italian asset manager Azimut report that it fell victim to a cyberattack orchestrated by the BlackCat ransomware group on July 21st.
BlackCat is known for launching sophisticated attacks across the US and Europe, making it one of the most active multi-extortion ransomware groups after LockBit.
According to Azimut's statement, the cyberattack did not compromise any data or information that could lead to unauthorized transactions or provide access to clients' and financial advisors' personal positions. The company immediately detected the unauthorized access during its regular monitoring activities and promptly alerted the relevant authorities. Additionally, Azimut executed internal safety procedures that effectively mitigated the impact of the criminal action.
While BlackCat claimed to have stolen over 500GB of confidential data from Azimut, the company assured that no customer data was exposed, providing some relief amidst the growing wave of cyber threats.
Unfortunately Azimut doesn't report any details of the attack nor about the data that got stolen by BlackCat.
