Bay Area Anesthesia, a division of Envision reports third party breach

Bay Area Anesthesia, a division of Envision Physician Services, is reporting a data breach incident affecting computer systems managed by Bowden Barlow, a former third-party legal service provider.

The breach was identified when unauthorized access was discovered on a Bowden Barlow computer server, between November 17 and December 1. During this period, an unidentified actor gained access to and downloaded specific documents containing potentially sensitive personal information of Bay Area Anesthesia patients.

The breach has impacted more than 15,000 individuals, although no details are disclosed about the exposed data or the nature of the attack.

As of February 26 the organization is sending of notification letters to impacted patients. Bay Area Anesthesia is also offering complimentary identity theft protection services to safeguard their information moving forward.
