The BBB is a nonprofit organization comprising 92 independently contracted bureaus across the US and Canada. It accredits nearly 400,000 businesses, assigning letter grades based on their adherence to the BBB's code of business practices. The BBB also acts as an intermediary to resolve customer complaints against businesses.
BianLian asserts on their leak sute that they have accessed and stolen the following types of data:
- Accounting, budget, and financial data
- Contract data and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)
- Files from the Chief Financial Officer’s PC
- Operational and business files
- Emails and Outlook archives (.pst files)
The BBB has yet to verify or confirm the attack. No details are disclosed about the number of exposed individuals or companies.
