Burton hired external forensic experts to investigate the nature of the incident and understand the affected information. The statement of Burton states: "On April 7, 2023, it was determined that some of your information was present in the files and folders that may have been accessed or taken."
The breach affected a limited number of files and folders, potentially compromising customer names, Social Security numbers, and financial account information. The number of affected individuals is not disclosed.
Burton has taken measures to investigate the incident and has reset account passwords of the affected customers. The company is yet to receive reports of misuse of customer information, and it encourages affected customers to monitor their accounts and seek assistance if needed.
