CBIZ Benefits & Insurance Services, Inc. offers services related to employee benefits, retirement plan administration, and risk management, helping organizations manage and protect their employee benefits and welfare plans

The breach affected individuals linked to CBIZ's clients' retiree health and welfare plans. CBIZ identified the breach on June 24, 2024, and determined that an unauthorized third party exploited a vulnerability in one of its web pages, acquiring information from certain databases between June 2 and June 21, 2024.

The company fixed the vulnerability and implemented additional security measures to prevent future breaches.

The breach exposed individuals' names and Social Security numbers. It affected several retirement plan clients, including:

  • Central Pennsylvania Teamsters
  • Knoll Inc.
  • Liberty Utilities
  • Sanofi
  • Sanofi Pasteur

The number of affected individuals has not been disclosed.

Update - as of 2nd of September 2024, CBIZ reports that hackers stole information of 36,000 individuals, including:

  • Contact details
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth/death
  • Retiree health information
  • Welfare plan information

CBIZ is offering two years of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services for those whose Social Security numbers were compromised. A toll-free call center has been set up at 1-866-997-7169 for individuals seeking more information about the incident.
