(CPM), a medical practice specializing in pain management based in San Antonio, Texas, is reporting a significant data breach that exposed the sensitive information of 2,062 individuals.
The unauthorized access to the company's computer network occurred between June 26 and July 7, 2024. After detecting the breach, Consultants in Pain Medicine enlisted a team of external cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident.
The investigation confirmed that an unauthorized actor was able to access confidential patient files stored on the network. The exposed data includes:
- Names
- Social Security numbers
- Dates of birth
- Driver's license numbers
- State identification numbers
- Financial account information
- Passport numbers
- Medical information
- Health insurance policy information
The nature of the attack is not disclosed.
In their letter to affected individuals, CPM stated: "Please accept our apologies that this incident occurred. We are committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information in our possession and have taken many precautions to safeguard it."
CPM began sending data breach notification letters to affected individuals on February 14, 2025.
