In a significant data breach incident, almost half a million individuals who are members of a well-known cybercrime forum have had their personal information exposed to the public. The breach occurred when a crucial database from the forum called RaidForums was leaked and subsequently published on another hacking site - Exposed.vc
The confirmation of the data leak was made by cybersecurity researchers at VX-Underground, who revealed that more than 478,000 RaidForums users had their information compromised and leaked. The origin of the leak is not clear at the moment
The screenshots of the forum post indicate that the compromised information included members' usernames, email addresses, and hashed passwords. It is worth noting that there is a certain level of sanitizing of the leak - some users' details appear to have been removed.
RaidForums, established in 2015, was one of the largest hacking forums globally, providing a platform for members to trade and disclose compromised data. The site was associated with numerous high-profile database breaches, including the exposure of 40 million user records from the mobile app Wishbone and a separate collection of COVID-19 test data.
Following coordinated efforts by law enforcement agencies on both sides of the Atlantic, the RaidForums domain was seized, and the alleged administrator, along with two accomplices, was apprehended.
