Coffee Meets Bagel, a dating platform geared toward users seeking serious relationships, has confirmed that a recent global outage was the result of a cyberattack in which hackers breached the company's systems and deleted company data, causing disruptions to their production servers and rendering them inoperable.

While the company restored a secure environment for their technology team to address the issue and notified law enforcement, it has not yet been confirmed whether the attack involved ransomware encryption or deliberate data deletion with the intent to disrupt the service.

No details are available about the vector of attack or any data or individuals exposed.

Coffee Meets Bagel is back online as of 3rd of September and has extended chat and subscription durations for affected users, offering additional incentives for users. The company has reassured users that no matches were ghosted during the outage but advises all users to log back into the system as they were automatically logged out at the time of the attack.

This incident is not the first time Coffee Meets Bagel has faced a cyberattack, as they previously disclosed a data breach in 2019 that exposed user email addresses and names on Valentine's Day.
