An ongoing investigation is being conducted by Defence Housing Australia (DHA) after being informed of a cyberattack on one of its third-party service providers.
While there has been no impact or breach of DHA or Defence ICT systems, they are examining whether any data related to Defence Force members and their families may have been compromised.
The service provider is not named and there are no details available about the data or number of individuals exposed.
DHA has notified relevant authorities, including the Australian Cyber Security Centre and the Department of Home Affairs' cyber security response unit.
Defence personnel affected will be informed, and support services like IDCARE and Open Arms - Veterans and Families
In a very similar separate incident, a UK Ministry of Defence contractor, Zaun, experienced a breach by the LockBit ransom group, which resulted in data leakage, although the company emphasized that the compromised information pertains to publicly visible fencing projects.
