Finnish technology company Exel Composites is reporting a cyberattack that compromised sensitive personal and business information. The company specializes in composite material technologies and supplies customers in the transport, energy, defense and infrastructure sectors.
The incident was identified and confirmed on July 18, 2025. The breach affected a limited number of workstations and servers. Exel Composites worked with internal and external experts to contain the breach.
The compromised data includes:
- Personal information belonging to staff and shareholders
- Certain business-related material
The number of affected individuals and the nature of the attack are not disclosed.
Chief Executive Paul Sohlberg apologized for the breach and its consequences, stating "We are conducting a thorough investigation into the scope of the incident. We sincerely regret the breach and any consequences it causes"
Exel Composites has filed a criminal report with the police and reported it to data protection authorities. The company has also begun informing individuals and shareholders whose data might have been accessed.
