Learn More
Framework Computer, a California-based manufacturer of modular laptops, recently reported a data breach caused by a phishing attack on Keating Consulting Group, its accounting service provider.
The incident, which occurred in January, involved a Keating Consulting accountant being deceived by a threat actor impersonating Framework's CEO and asking for data. The accountant shared a spreadsheet with customers' personal information, including:
- full names,
- email addresses,
- balances owed.
The data is primarily related to open pre-orders and some completed orders. No details are disclosed about the number of affected individuals.
The breach was identified approximately 29 minutes after the data was shared, and Framework's Head of Finance immediately notified Keating Consulting's leadership. Framework then conducted an investigation to identify all affected customers and notified them via email about the breach. The company has warned these customers about the potential risks of phishing attacks using their exposed data.
