The French Football Federation (FFF) is reporting a cybersecurity incident involving the theft of personal data belonging to its members.
The breach was caused by a compromised account on the centralized administrative management software used by football clubs across France to manage memberships and daily operations. The compromised account gave attackers administrative privileges, enabling them to steal data.
The exposed data includes:
- Full names (first and last)
- Date and place of birth
- Gender and nationality
- Postal addresses
- Email addresses
- Telephone numbers
- License numbers
The number of affected individuals has not been disclosed. The federation stated it will directly notify all individuals whose email addresses appear in the compromised database and has issued an advisory urging all members and licensees to be careful of phishing attempts.
The FFF has filed a formal criminal complaint and notified relevant cybersecurity, privacy and regulatory authorities.
