Golden Corral has reported a data breach affecting thousands of its employees and former employees. Golden Corral is a restaurant chain headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina with 298 locations across U.S. and Puerto Rico.
The breach occurred when an unauthorized entity gained access to the company's information technology network between August 11 and August 15, 2023.
In response to the breach, Golden Corral initiated an immediate investigation, which revealed that certain corporate operational information pertaining to current and former employees, as well as their dependents, might have been compromised during the specified period.
This intrusion enabled the unauthorized party to access sensitive personal information, specifically names and Social Security numbers. The company assures that customer data remained unaffected due to existing security protocols.
Per the information available, the incident has exposed 183,000 individuals, current and former employees and beneficiaries.
No details are disclosed about the nature of the attack.
Following the discovery, the company issued letters earlier in February 2024 to notify those affected by the incident.
