Hyundai Motor Europe, the European division of Hyundai Motor Company based in Germany, fell victim to a ransomware attack by the Black Basta group. This incident was initially described as routine IT issues. Upon further investigation Hyundai confirmed the cyberattack, revealing that an unauthorized party had accessed a part of their network.

The attack involved the theft of approximately three terabytes of corporate data. Although Hyundai has not disclosed the specifics of the data compromised, folder names suggest it includes information from various departments such as legal, sales, human resources, accounting, IT, and management.

Hyundai Motor Europe has notified relevant authorities. The company emphasizes that trust and security are paramount, underscoring its commitment to protecting the data and privacy of its customers, employees, investors, and partners.
