The hacker identity IntelBroker has claimed responsibility for a significant data breach at The Home Depot, Inc.

This breach, reportedly executed in April 2024, targeted Home Depot's employees, compromising the personal information of over 22,000 individuals. Ccustomer data is supposed not to be affected by this incident, with the breach focusing solely on the company's extensive employee network across the United States, China, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.

The compromised data, leaked on the cybercrime forum Breach Forums, is contained within an 83 MB CSV file. Hackread.com, has reviewed the leaked file, and reported that it includes:

  • full names,
  • departments,
  • project UCID (universally unique identifier),
  • email addresses, with the majority using the @homedepot.com domain.

The Home Depot has been notified of the breach, but so far no statement is available. No details are available about the nature of the attack.

Update - Home Depot has acknowledged a data breach and clarified that the incident resulted from an oversight by one of its third-party Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) vendors, which inadvertently exposed a sample of employee data. The breach exposed the data of approximately 10,000 Home Depot employees.
