The personal Gmail account of FBI Director Kash Patel was reportedly breached on March 27, 2026. The Handala Hack Team, a threat group linked to Iranian intelligence, claimed responsibility and published stolen materials on their leak site.

A Justice Department official confirmed the authenticity of the leaked data, which includes personal correspondence and photographs. The FBI stated that the compromised information is historical and contains no government data.

This incident appears to be retaliation for the FBI's recent seizure of Handala-controlled web domains and the announcement of a $10 million bounty for information on the group.

The compromised data includes:

  • Personal photographs from 2010 to 2019, including images from Havana, Cuba
  • Professional resume detailing past roles at the Pentagon and National Security Council
  • Personal and business emails spanning a nine-year period
  • Travel records and internal conversations

The FBI stated it has taken steps to mitigate risks and claims that no classified government information was stored in the personal account. The Department of State's Rewards for Justice program is actively seeking information on the Handala Hack Team.
