On June 18, 2024, Kairos Health Arizona reported a data breach after a cybersecurity incident resulted in the leak of some members’ personal information.
Kairos Health Arizona is an employee benefits pool that serves public entities in Arizona, including school districts and municipalities. They offer plans and administrative services targeting small employers and self-employed individuals.
According to Kairos Health Arizona’s, the breach was traced back to a former third-party vendor who accessed the company's IT network without permission. The investigation revealed that this vendor accessed and downloaded data from a Kairos database between November 2, 2023, and March 29, 2024. It was confirmed that the unauthorized access included files containing confidential consumer information.
This exposed data includes:
- Names
- Insurance identification numbers
- Claims and coverage information
- Health information
The number of affected individuals and the name of the third party vendor are not disclosed.
After completing the investigation, Kairos Health Arizona began sending out data breach notification letters to all individuals whose information was affected by the incident.
