Learn More
Education technology company Kokomo Solutions, Inc., branded as Kokomo24/7, had a data breach that compromised sensitive personal information belonging to students and staff from the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).
Kokomo24/7 provides a telehealth platform that enables students to receive virtual medical care during school hours, including treatment for minor injuries, allergies, and headaches, while supervised by school nurses. The company also hosts the Los Angeles Schools Anonymous Reporting app, which allows students, parents, and community members to report suspicious activity, safety threats, mental health crises, drug consumption, vandalism, and other security concerns.
The company discovered suspicious activity on its computer network on December 11, 2024, and engaged a forensic security firm to investigate, confirming that an unauthorized third party had accessed files.
Exposed data includes:
- Names and addresses
- Contact information
- Social Security numbers
- Driver's license or state identification numbers
- Medical and health information
- Educational and administrative records
The nature of the attack and the number of affected individuals are not disclosed. It is believed that several thousand students may be impacted by the incident
The breach was formally reported on August 5, 2025, a massive delay of eight months between discovery notification. Kokomo Solutions is providing affected individuals with 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services. Multiple law firms are now investigating potential class action lawsuits on behalf of affected students and families, citing concerns about the extended delay in notification and the highly sensitive nature of the compromised student medical and safety data.
