LG Energy Solution, a battery manufacturer and subsidiary of South Korean LG Corporation, has confirmed that one of its overseas facilities was targeted in a ransomware attack claimed by the Akira cybercriminal group.
The company reported the incident following claims made by the Akira gang on November 17, 2025, when they added LG Energy Solution to their dark web leak site. A company spokesperson confirmed that the attack targeted an undisclosed overseas facility and claims that headquarters and other facilities are not affected.
The Akira gang claims to have stolen approximately 1.7 terabytes of corporate data from LG Energy Solution's systems. The stolen information reportedly includes:
- Corporate documents and confidential business files
- SQL databases totaling approximately 46 gigabytes containing employee personal information
- Financial records and proprietary financial data
- Confidential projects and intellectual property
- Non-disclosure agreements and sensitive legal documents
- Partner and client information and business relationship data
