New American Funding, a mortgage lender reports a data breach at a third party vendor Mobile Notary Zone (MNZ). MNZ provides notary services for loan closings and other legal documents. The breach potentially compromised sensitive personal and financial information of thousands of individuals.
New American Funding used Mobile Notary Zone's services for loan closing documentation. Apparently North American Funding is just one of the companies affected by this breach.
The exposed data includes:
- Names
- Addresses
- Social Security numbers
- Dates of birth
- Financial account information
- Other personal financial details
The nature of the attack and the number of affected individuals is not disclosed. Mobile Notary Zone has not released a list of companies and/or individuals with documents and data compromised in the data breach.
New American Funding terminated all services with Mobile Notary Zone, is notifying all affected individuals will be notified by mail. New American Funding is offering free credit monitoring, identity restoration support and $1 million in identity theft insurance.
