The motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield has reportedly fallen victim to a ransomware attack.
A hacker collective posted a "Complete Breach Notice" on an underground forum, claiming full system compromise at Royal Enfield Corporation. The attack has apparently paralyzed Royal Enfield's operations. According to the notice, all servers have been encrypted and backups wiped.
Royal Enfield's headquarters in Chennai, India, did not provide details. An official spokesperson issued a brief statement acknowledging "reports of cybersecurity incident" and confirming that an internal investigation is underway.
The exposed data and number of affected individuals have not been disclosed.
The motorcycle community has expressed concern. Some dealers reported temporary suspension of online ordering systems as a precaution, and workshop services at select locations were briefly halted.
The company also faces risks of regulatory fines, significant reputational damage, and erosion of confidence among dealers, suppliers, and customers.
