The German beverage producer Oettinger brewery, has confirmed it has fallen victim to a cyber attack described as "double extortion" ransomware attack.
The cyber attack on Oettinger was claimed by RansomHouse. According to information posted on RansomHouse's darknet site, the initial system breach occurred on April 19, 2025, followed by data encryption. To substantiate their claims and pressure the company, the attackers have published directory structures and documents that appear to contain sensitive internal information. The leaked directory structure, dated April 20, 2025, reportedly contains sensitive information related to:
- Shipping and logistics operations
- Individual company locations
- Vehicle fleet management
- Warehouse management systems
- Quality management systems
- Employee warning information
The number of affected individuals is not disclosed.
Oettinger has confirmed the security breach in a statement, noting that they are actively investigating the incident with the assistance of IT forensic experts, data protection authorities, and cybercrime specialists. The company reports that the attack has affected their IT systems but their production and logistics operations remain functional.
