A Pakistani hacker group calling itself the 'Pakistan Cyber Force' has claimed responsibility for breaching multiple Indian defence institutions. The attack appears to have caused a data breach of sensitive information from multiple defence institutions as well as website defacement of Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited, where attackers reportedly displayed the Pakistan flag and an image of the Al Khalid tank

The hackers claim to have successfully breached:

  • Indian Military Engineering Services
  • Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses
  • Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited (a PSU company under the Ministry of Defence)

The Pakistan Cyber Force claim to have accessed over 10 GB of data belonging to approximately 1,600 Indian defence personnel, potentially compromising their personal information and login credentials. According to claims made through their X (formerly Twitter) account, they allegedly accessed:

  • Classified personnel data
  • Login credentials related to Indian defence personnel
  • Other sensitive information

While Indian officials acknowledge awareness of these claims, the  extent of the breach, nature of attack and number of affected individuals has not been officially confirmed. The Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited website has been taken offline for an audit. Cybersecurity agencies have initiated urgent investigations and are actively monitoring cyberspace for additional attacks.
