Prudential Malasya reports MOVEit related data breach exposing agent and customer data

Prudential, the multinational insurance company, has disclosed that two of its subsidiaries in Malaysia, Prudential Assurance Malaysia Bhd (PAMB) and Prudential BSN Takaful Bhd (PruBSN), have fallen victim to a cyberattack to the MOVEit vulnerability and attack.
Prudential acted fast to isolate the affected server, launch an investigation, and notifying the authorities.
Unfortunately, Prudential reports that personal data of agents and customers may have been exposed:
- names
- contact numbers,
- ID numbers,
- bank account details
- partial credit card information,
The risk of unauthorized transactions is low due to only partial credit card information being exposed.
The number of affected individuals is not provided by Prudential.
Prudential advises individuals to contact their card issuers if they suspect compromise andmonitor bank statements closely.
The individuals should also be cautious if they receive unsolicited communications since they could be attempts at fraud. Prudential has established a dedicated hotline to assist affected customers, and they assure that their operations continue unaffected by the incident.
