Roblox, the American video game giant, has reported a data breach linked to a third-party service provider FNTech responsible for hosting its annual Developer Conference.
Roblox Corporation, headquartered in San Mateo, California develops the popular game platform Roblox, which was launched in 2006. The user base of Roblox is mainly youngsters below 16 years; 21% aged between 9 and 12 years
The breach was discovered when an unauthorized actor infiltrated FNTech's systems and accessed a subset of user information from the Roblox Developer Conference registration list. This breach has resulted in the exposure of data related to both in-person and online attendees who registered through the third-party’s platform over the past two years.
Compromised Data:
- Full names
- Email addresses
- IP addresses of attendees, particularly those participating via the hybrid option
The number of affected individuals is not disclosed.
Roblox has not confirmed if any other data or if its own internal systems were affected. They have informed all developers registered on the FNTech platform about the breach.
