SouthCoast Medical Group, LLC (SouthCoast), based in Pooler, Georgia reported a data breach, discovered when it was found that an unauthorized entity had gained access to specific files within the company's computer network.
On June 18, 2023, SouthCoast Health detected unauthorized activities within its IT network. In response, the organization took immediate steps to secure its network, alerted law enforcement, and launched an investigation to ascertain the extent of patient information compromised.
Subsequent investigation revealed that an unauthorized entity had accessed the network and downloaded specific files between June 15, 2023, and June 18, 2023. SouthCoast later confirmed that certain downloaded files contained confidential patient information.
SouthCoast Medical Group reviewed the compromised files to identify the leaked information and affected consumers. The breached information may include, but is not limited to:
