Learn More
Tenga, a Japanese manufacturer of adult products, reports a data breach affecting its U.S. operations, Tenga Store USA.
Attackers apparently gained access to an email account belonging to a Tenga employee, allowing the them to view and steal sensitive communications stored in the inbox. After seizing control, the hacker used the account to distribute spam emails to the employee's contact list, which included Tenga customers who had previously interacted with the brand.
The compromised data includes:
- Customer names
- Email addresses
- Historical email correspondence
- Order details
- Customer service inquiries
The number of affected individuals is not disclosed. The company did not specify how many records were stored in the compromised inbox or the total number of customers impacted by this breach.
Tenga reset the credentials for the compromised email account and enabled multi-factor authentication across its entire system to block future unauthorized login attempts. Tenga recommended that customers change their passwords as a precaution and stay alert for suspicious communications, particularly those appearing to originate from the specific breached employee's address.
