Tennessee Orthopaedic Clinics (TOC) reports a data breach after unauthorized access to confidential patient data was discovered on the company's computer network.
TOC recently detected suspicious activity within portions of its computer network. In response, they took steps to secure its computer system and then enlisted the help of third-party data security professionals to assist with the company’s investigation.
The investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access parts of its computer network between March 20, 2023 and March 24, 2023. The breach compromised patients' personal information, including names, contact details, dates of birth, diagnosis and treatment information, provider names, service dates, costs, prescription details, and health insurance information.
The report doesn't list the number of affected individuals.
TOC is taking steps to notify affected individuals and seeking legal assistance to address the breach's implications and provide guidance on protecting against potential fraud or identity theft.
