Timex reports breach that exposes employee data

The watchmaking company Timex Group has reported a data breach that compromised the personal information of over 3,000 individuals. This breach, identified as a "sophisticated cyber attack", resulted in the exposure of names and Social Security numbers.
The incident occurred between June 1st and June 5th, 2023, with Timex initially detecting suspicious activity on June 5. On 14th of December 2023 it was confirmed that personal information had indeed been stolen. In total, 3,085 individuals had their names and Social Security numbers exposed due to this breach.
As of the latest updates, there is no evidence of the stolen information being fraudulently used. No details are disclosed about the nature of the attack.
The breach affected both current and former employees of Timex. In response, the company issued a notification on January 29, offering those impacted 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services.
