Turkey's Personal Data Protection Board (KVKK) has imposed a fine on Amazon's gaming platform Twitch following a major data breach. The regulatory body's investigation revealed that Twitch had failed to implement adequate security measures before the incident, only addressing security concerns after the breach had occurred.

The incident resulted in the exposure of 125 GB of data, affecting 35,274 individuals in Turkey. T

The KVKK's investigation determined that Twitch's risk and threat assessments were insufficient, highlighting serious gaps in their security infrastructure. As a consequence, the regulatory body levied a total fine of 2 million lira (approximately $58,000), broken down into two components: 1.75 million lira for inadequate security measures and an additional 250,000 lira for failing to report the breach as required by regulations.

The specific types of data exposed in the breach were not disclosed in the initial reports, and Twitch has not provided immediate comment on the situation. The fine, while relatively modest in international terms, represents a significant regulatory action by Turkish authorities in enforcing data protection standards.
