Unicoin reports compromise of their G-Suite account

Unicoin, a cryptocurrency firm linked to the Unicorn Hunters show, is reporting a significant cybersecurity incident on August 9, 2024, when its Google G-Suite account was compromised. The breach resulted in the loss of access for all Unicoin staff members for four days.

The investigation uncovered irregularities involving corporate accounts, particularly within the accounting department and among contractors. Additionally, there are signs that corporate managers' accounts and email messages might have been accessed, and there was potential identity forgery of a former contractor. Despite the scope of the breach, there is no evidence at this time indicating that any cryptocurrency assets were compromised.

Following an investigation, Unicoin reported the incident in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), revealing concerning details.

Elliott Wilkes, Chief Technology Officer of Advanced Cyber Defence Systems questions whether the compromise involved a targeted spearphishing attack on an admin account or was related to identity forgery involving a terminated contractor. Wilkes noted that until more information is released, the exact nature of the compromise remains speculative.
