USAA, a San Antonio-based insurance and financial services company, has disclosed a data breach involving unauthorized access to the personal information of a limited number of its members.

The breach affected 2,726 USAA members living in Texas, but the total number of affected members has not been disclosed.

The breach occurred due to a limited number of employees at a third-party service supplier sharing their access credentials with unauthorized individuals.

The incident took place between December 20 and May 18, and the compromised member information potentially includes

  • names,
  • addresses,
  • phone numbers,
  • email addresses,
  • birth dates,
  • driver's license numbers,
  • the last four digits of Social Security numbers,
  • bank account numbers,
  • personal identification numbers used for authentication.

USAA has not identified any fraudulent activity resulting from the breach and is providing affected members with two years of free credit monitoring by Experian. The company is actively monitoring the impacted members' accounts for any signs of suspicious activity.
