Wells Fargo reporting data breach caused by employee

Wells Fargo has reported a data breach which exposed customer information due to the actions of one of its employees. The incident was not a result of a cyber-attack but rather the result of an employee who sent sensitive information to his personal account, violating company policy.

The breach affected at least two customers, revealing their personal information and mortgage account numbers.

The two customers whose information was exposed have been sent data breach notification letters. Additionally, Wells Fargo is offering these customers a two-year complimentary subscription to an identity theft protection program provided by Experian.
