Advantest Corp., a Japanese manufacturer of semiconductor testing equipment, reports a suspected ransomware attack on February 19, 2026.

The company detected unusual activity within its information technology environment on February 15, 2026. Preliminary findings indicate that attackers breached parts of the company's network to deploy ransomware. It's not clear whether the malware was executed before the company's security systems triggered an alert or whether data was stolen.

Advantest isolated the affected systems and hired external cybersecurity specialists to conduct an investigation which is expected to determine if sensitive information was stolen.

The number of affected individuals is not disclosed.

Advantest committed to notifying any affected customers or employees directly if the investigation confirms their data was compromised.

Update - as of 20th of February 2026, Advantest stated “Preliminary findings appear to indicate that an unauthorized third party may have gained access to portions of the company’s network and deployed ransomware. If our investigation determines that customer or employee data was affected, we will notify impacted persons directly and provide guidance on protective measures.”
At this moment no data theft has been confirmed, but Advantest noted that this may change as more information emerges.
