Aizer Health reports data breack exposing 59k patients

On May 8, 2024, Aizer Health, formerly known as Ezras Choilim Health Center, Inc. (“ECHC” or “Aizer Health”), reported a data breach following the discovery of an unauthorized party compromising its computer network. Aizer Health is a primary care, specialty services (acute care, pediatrics, dental care, women’s health, internal medicine) provider based in New York.
On September 18, 2023, Aizer Health experienced a network disruption that affected its computer network functionality. In response, the organization disconnected its system and initiated an investigation. The investigation revealed that an unauthorized party had gained access to the IT network, including files containing confidential patient information. Aizer Health reviewed the compromised files to ascertain the scope of the breach and identify the affected individuals. This review was completed on March 13, 2024.
The breach exposed the sensitive information of many consumers, including:
- Full names
- Social Security numbers
- Addresses
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
- Credit card numbers
The incident has exposed the data of 59,861 patients. The nature of the attack is not disclosed.
Aizer Health began notifying the affected individuals on May 8, 2024, via data breach notification letters, detailing what specific information had been compromised for each person.
