This breach included Clarion Japan, which serves as the Japanese subsidiary of Clarion Co., Ltd. As evidence of their successful intrusion, the Alphv group shared screenshots of the stolen documents on the leak site.
Clarion's car navigation systems are widely utilized by numerous automobile manufacturers within Japan, indicating the substantial market penetration and reliance on Clarion's products among Japanese motorists. Clarion also supplies its components to several automakers worldwide, including renowned names like Suzuki, Toyota, Subaru, Ford, Volkswagen, Proton, and Peugeot.
The breach, publicly disclosed by the Alphv group on September 23, involved unauthorized access to Clarion's systems and the theft of sensitive data, including confidential documents related to their partners. The Alphv group explicitly state their intentions to disseminate this data, including engineering information belonging to Clarion's clients, to selected parties and partially make it public within two days of their announcement.
