Aroostook Mental Health Services Inc. (AMHC), a nonprofit behavioral health provider reported a ransomware attack that disrupted its business operations. The Qilin ransomware group claimed responsibility for the breach, posting the company's name on its dark web leak site.

The attackers deployed ransomware that caused a temporary loss of connectivity that affected internal business functions. Qilin published the organization's name on the dark web because the provider refused to pay the ransom demand. The compromised data includes:

  • Business operational files
  • Internal network connectivity data
  • Sensitive client information
  • Employee records

The number of affected individuals is not disclosed. AMHC hired external specialists to investigate the nature and scope of the attack. The organization issued a public notice on its official Facebook page. So far no credit monitoring or identity protection services were offered by the organization.

Security experts recommend that clients and staff monitor their financial accounts and insurance statements for any unauthorized activity. Individuals should consider placing fraud alerts or credit freezes on their files to prevent potential identity theft.
