New South Wales based financial services firm Skeggs Goldstien reports it is investigating a cybersecurity incident after being targeted by the Qilin ransomware gang. The company was listed on a ransomware leak site on June 12, 2025. The hackers claim to have stolen 500 gigabytes of sensitive client and business data.
Skeggs Goldstien is investigating the incident with the assistance of cybersecurity experts. Based on proof-of-hack documents posted by the attackers, the compromised data includes:
- Client details and personal information
- Tax returns and financial documents
- Signed confidentiality agreements
- Completed client questionnaires
- Statements of advice
- Other sensitive business and client documentation totaling approximately 500 gigabytes
The number of affected individuals has not been disclosed. The company has notified the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) and the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC).
