A cyberattack targeting the document management firm ZircoDATA has led to a significant data breach affecting thousands of individuals across Victoria, Australia. Two prominent victims include Monash Health and Melbourne Polytechnic. ZircoDATA also served other government clients, and investigations hindicate that the impact on most of these entities is expected to be minimal.

Monash Health, Victoria state largest health service, reports that the attack exposed sensitive data related to approximately 4,000 individuals who sought support from Monash Health's family violence and sexual assault units between 1970 and 1993. Monash Health is notufying the impacted individuals. Approximately 60,000 current and former students at Melbourne Polytechnic had their enrollment data accessed during this breach.

Federal authorities, including the Australian Federal Police, are investigating the incident.
