The incident was initially detected on August 13, 2024, when suspicious activity was observed within the email account. BCG immediately disabled the affected account and launched an investigation into the incident.
The investigation, confirmed that an unauthorized party had gained access to emails containing confidential information belonging to employees of various organizations.
The breach impacted employees across 221 different companies, including
- Academy House,
- Amboy Bank,
- Columbia Bank,
- Peapack-Gladstone Bank,
and several other financial institutions and businesses primarily operating in the New Jersey area.
The types of exposed data and the number of affected individuals have not been disclosed. The company started notifying the customer companies as of December 13, 2024.
