Bassett Furniture hit by ransomware, disrupts operations

Learn More

Bassett Furniture, a Virginia-based furniture manufacturer and retailer, has been hit by a ransomware attack that severely disrupted its operations. Bassett Furniture operates approximately 100 retail locations across the United States and Puerto Rico.

The company discovered unauthorized access to its IT systems on July 10. The attack led to the encryption of certain data files, causing Bassett Furniture to shut down some of its systems as part of its containment measures. This shutdown halted operations at the company's manufacturing facilities.

Bassett's retail stores and e-commerce platform remain operational, allowing customers to place orders and purchase available merchandise, albeit with impacted order fulfillment capabilities.

Bassett Furniture has stated that it does not believe personal information from consumers was compromised during the attack. Despite the containment efforts, the incident is expected to have a material impact on the company's business operations until recovery efforts are complete. The company has yet to determine if the attack will materially affect its financial condition or results of operations.

As of now, no ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
