Butler County Community College (BC3) reports that Personal data of students was compromised in a cybersecurity incident involving National Student Clearinghouse.

No details were provided as to the number of impacted individuals nor the data that's exposed. However the U.S. Department of Education mandates that institutions providing federal financial aid must share enrollment and degree information, including personal details like name, date of birth, address, Social Security number, and program of study. Therefore it's highly probable that the leaked data set is very comprehensive.

BC3 clarified that their servers and infrastructure were not affected, and they do not use the breached third-party software program from National Student Clearinghouse.

The college is cooperating with the investigation, and they will notify affected students pending the investigation's results.
