Casepoint, a legal technology platform that serves US government agencies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Defense, has been listed on the dark web victim blog of the ransomware gang known as BlackCat.
The gang claims to have obtained over 2 TB of Casepoint's data, including attorney files and other sensitive information.
While the specific ransom amount and deadline have not been disclosed, BlackCat typically demands payment in cryptocurrency within a set timeframe, threatening to release the victim's data if the ransom is not paid.
Casepoint has not yet responded to requests for comment. BlackCat, also known as ALPHV, is a Russian-speaking ransomware-as-a-Service gang with connections to other prominent ransomware groups.
The gang targets sectors such as manufacturing, technology, energy, and construction.
