Bloom Health Centers has disclosed a data breach involving the mental health data of 1,545 patients, which occurred when they detected suspicious activity in their email system on July 5, 2023.

The breach lead to an investigation that revealed unauthorized access to certain files within a clinician's mailbox around June 23, 2023.

While there is currently no evidence of misuse, the compromised information may have included personal details such as

• names,
• addresses,
• phone numbers,
• email addresses,
• diagnoses,
• medication information,
• health insurance details,
• Social Security numbers.

No details are available about the breach, but it seems that not using MFA and simple passwords are the cause.

Some affected patients may have received treatment from Bloom Health providers at Dominion Hospital, which is not affiliated with Bloom Health Centers but allows them to serve patients there.
