On May 31 the Clearinghouse was notified by its third-party software provider, Progress Software, about a cybersecurity problem related to the provider's 'MOVEit Transfer' solution. During their investigation, the Clearinghouse discovered on June 30 that an unauthorized party had accessed certain files from the MOVEit tool.
The compromised personal information, as reported by the Clearinghouse, includes
- names,
- dates of birth,
- contact details,
- Social Security numbers,
- student ID numbers,
- specific school-related records.
Calhoun Community College emphasized that it has not experienced a data breach or a breach of student information. Instead, the issue is linked to a third-party software provider. The college received notifications from the National Student Clearinghouse regarding the potential compromise of student information by this software provider. Calhoun Community College, like other educational institutions, uses the services of the National Student Clearinghouse.
