Canopy Children's Solutions Reports Cyberattack

Canopy Children's Solutions (Canopy), which comprises Mississippi Children's Home Society, CARES Center, Inc., and Mississippi Children's Home Services, Inc., reported a recent data breach. Canopy is still in the process of determining the extent of the breach and which confidential data was affected.

It's expected that once the impacted consumer data is identified, Canopy plans to send data breach notification letters to all affected individuals. The breach has raised concerns among families who trusted Canopy as a social service and healthcare provider for children.

The breach was discovered on April 4, 2023, when encrypted files were identified on Canopy's computer network. Measures were taken to secure the systems, and an investigation with the assistance of cybersecurity specialists was initiated. It was determined that unauthorized access may have occurred on April 4, 2023, and certain files and folders were compromised.

Canopy is reviewing the affected files to determine the sensitive information contained within and the individuals to whom it pertains.
